Adoption can be such a beautiful thing that is near and dear to me. I will often get emails from people saying “My husband and I have decided to adopt but how do we know where to start?”
I will email them back with my suggestions which usually go along the lines of starting with deciding where you want to adopt from and what route you want to take..Domestically, Internationally, Foster to Adopt. Along with those options I will send a brief overview on what each of those will look like which as a whole could possibly be and usually is overwhelming.
It would be so easy to look through the technical steps that need to happen to adopt and decide to walk away, but to make a child that is not biologically yours..YOURS, well it is a HUGE process and there are a lot of steps that have to happen.
That is one of the huge perks of having an adoption consultant, we talk and walk through all of those steps with you to make it less overwhelming.
Whether it is adoption you feel like you are being called to, being a missionary and leaving the comforts of home, starting a new job, having another child, going back to school, writing a book, starting a blog, being an advocate to something you are passionate about, being more intentional in your marriage, walk with Christ or just life.
What EVER hurdle or goal you have in front of you, I challenge you this one thing.
Fight for it. Fight to follow it. Fight to succeed. Fight to build your family. Fight to overcome the fears.
I am a “song” person–music moves me in way that almost nothing else can. I have had this song on repeat for what seems weeks, my husband will look at me and say, “Again?”
But the words in it speak to my heart as though it’s transparent. These words specifically..
“Here to fight this sinner’s battle
Here to make my fall Your own”
“I will fight to follow
I will fight for love”
“Turn my eyes to see Your face
As all my fears surrender”
Honestly, I could write the entire song down I love it so much. But I just want you to know more than anything that these battles we are up against..We aren’t up against them alone.
Jesus walks these hard roads with us and he is here to stay. He won’t leave us when the going gets tough and we are up against a wall. The fears will always exist because we are human but what believers get is something so amazing. When we know the love of Christ and know him as our Lord and Savior along with that comes a sense of freedom, a sort of weight lifted from us because we know how much of that he takes on for us.
Life can be hard though right? Loving Jesus and leaning on him while we FIGHT to follow His calling for our life doesn’t have to be.
What are you fighting to follow?
With love, CZ
